Staying connected to your power!

Greeting and Salutations,

It seems like everything around us is moving so fast. I think to myself, "Where does the day go?" I was speaking with a friend last week and she asked me, "How do you stay connected to your power with everything that is going on in the world today?" I thought that was an excellent question! I am not sure if I can answer it for everyone, but I do have a few ideas to keep us connected that are simple and effective. See, the biggest muscle we have in our body is the gluteus maximus, aka your ass. It is large and powerful because it has the job of keeping the trunk of the body in an erect posture. It is the chief anti-gravity muscle that aids in walking up stairs. I think spirit has a sense of humor because the gluteus maximus, aka your ass, is needed to keep you straight (laterally). How funny is that? Your body's biggest muscle is what you need to stay erect! And that is how you have to look at your power. What keeps you going straight in the direction you want to be in? Do you have a plan of action?

Well, thank goodness you are reading this today! Just like your body needs exercise, so does your power. You need to use it on a regular bases in order to achieve your goals. I already hear you asking, "How?"

First we start with the question: what is your power? Power comes in many forms, like being able to write a eloquent note or email. To put your thoughts on paper so someone else can hear you is power. That is why social media has taking off. We all need to express what is going on in our worlds. Any art can be used as power from visual to print - these are all excellent ways to connect with your power and let other hear what you thinking and feeling.

Then there are hidden powers. Like listening! That is a art all to itself. To be able to hear another person's true message takes a very gifted and insightful person who not only can listen, but can be compassionate about what the other person is saying. We take for granted great leaders who listen and give responses based on what is being discussed. Not every leader know how to lead but those who do are usually are remembered for their insight and art of listening to what is going on around them.

Another hidden talent is to stay calm during very difficult times. Keep a cool head sometime develops over a period of time. Usually after you have accepted the hard fact about what you want to do. It take a great connection to your higher power to stay centered in the middle of chaos. These gifts can all be developed over time but the true power starts with knowing yourself. To thy own self be true. It's an oldie but goodie because it's truly timeless. The more you learn about yourself, the more at ease you will be with others. That is what makes people feel your power. You are centered and you have a clear direction of what you would like to do. The best way to get to know yourself is to spend time listening to your heart. Listen to your true self and what makes you feel passionate about what you are doing.

Here are a few suggestion to get you started:

1.You have to develop a positive routine that becomes a ritual. Meditating, praying, or even knitting are great places to start. You can do them alone or in a group setting. 2. Give yourself some time every day. Put aside at least 30 minutes a day just for you!! Sit, relax, and DO NOTHING but check in with yourself. Self awareness is a huge key to success. 3. Write down what you are doing! Keeping a note book on yourself is like balancing the check book - sometime you just have to know how much you have to give. That is one of the biggest problem I see. Folks not take time out to think about what they want before trying to please everyone around them. 4. Find a trusted friend/mentor/family who you can talk to about what you are feeling. Once you open these doors, you may discover you have more friends then you think. Sharing is truly caring and, as human beings, we have a built-in ability to love one another. We just got to talk it out a bit. 5. Get a hobby or get involved in a cause you believe in! This is one of those big ones. Everyone needs to belong somewhere and you have the power to choose what that looks like for you. You don't have to give all of your time. Just as much as you can.

And speaking of volunteering, check out my good friend and guest blogger, Priya Bradfield's latest post: Love what you do - do what you love - volunteer for your passion. How timely, right?

Don't forget to check out my podcast on iHeart.com - we have over 60 episodes up and I would love to hear if these are helping you achieve your goals.

Below is February's Dating and Romance episode with Dr. Gregory Canillas:

If you know of a non-profit that is need of fundraising in the Los Angeles area, have them give me a call about the candle fundraiser program we have started here at Candles By Ari. We can give up to 50% back to qualifying organizations - that is virtually unheard of in the fundraising world!

Aromatherapy can save lives!! We could smell before we could speak - keep that in mind.

Love and Light,

Ari Mac
